ON VACATION
In case you've all been wondering where I am and why I have not been blogging lately,
I'm in Newfoundland enjoying a wonderful vacation. The weather has been surprisingly great for the most part, which allows me to spend most of my days sitting on my grandmother's front porch swing, reading. Most nights find me lying in Julie's room with her 6 dogs watching our favourite TV shows and gossiping.
You never really realize how much you miss the places, things and people that you grew up with and are so familiar to you until you get to go back home and spend every day surrounded by them. I think I missed my Nanny WInnie most of all.
Every night before bed we get a cup of tea (with Carnation Milk of course), listen to some Newfoundland craziness and spirit on VOCM's
Night Line, and chat about Poppy. I know she's been really lonely without him and has been enjoying having me around. I know for a fact it's been doing me a world of good to spend so much time with her. Mostly, it is refreshing to live without pretense or plans. No acting is required here.
All the same, I wonder what my friends back in Haliafx are doing, and I miss them. Joseph is coming for the weekend so we should have a little fun at our old gay stomping grounds, The Zone, on Saturday night. And Sunday is Thanksgiving, which means stuffed turkey with Jiggs Dinner and a huge gathering of family. I cannot wait!
I will have a full report of some of my Newfoundland adventures when I get back to Halifax on Tuesday. Until then ...
