CONFESSIONS ON A DANCE FLOOR

One year ago on this day, Madonna released her 11th studio album, Confessions on a Dance Floor. The album saw my Queen going back to her roots in high energy dance music and modernizing disco club tunes for a new generation. I took one listen and it instantly became one of my favourite Madonna albums of all time.

Confessions spawned four number 1 studio singles including Hung Up, Sorry, Get Together and Jump; went to number 1 in 29 countries; and to-date has sold over 8 million copies world wide.

The Confessions Tour made Madonna the highest grossing female touring artist of all time. The album's singles gave her the record for the most number one dance hits on the Billboard charts and helped her beat Elvis Presley for the most top ten singles by any artist. She's received 17 nominations at various awards shows and took home 5 of those awards. She bumped Mariah Carey as the opening artist for the 2006 Grammy's, even though Confessions was not eligible to be nominated until 2007. She also beat out Mariah for the coveted year-end cover of Rolling Stone magazine despite the fact Confessions had only been out less than a month and Mariah was the biggest selling artist of 2005.

Most importantly, Confessions solidified Madonna's place as Queen of the Dance Floor! I can hardly wait to find out what she'll do next!
