THE SHOW IS OVER, SAY GOODBYE

Take a bow, the night is over
This masquerade is getting older
The lights are low, the curtain's down
There's no one here ...

Well folks, it's been fun but I've decided that my blogging days are done. It seems that everything I like and everything I do is right here on display for everyone to read about and I guess I feel my life has lost its mystery. Okay, that's a little too dramatic, but in all seriousness, I find myself constantly thinking about how I am going to blog about things, like when I'm watching a movie or hanging out with friends, which in some way takes away from the experience of being in the moment. And to be honest, more than anything, I'm just kinda sick of this whole blogging thing.

So this is the final post for Ray of Delight ... for now anyways. I will start posting again when Madonna releases a new album. So check back in roughly two years or so ;-)

Finally, I think it is only appropriate that I end with a quote from the person who inspired this blog and has been posted here more than anyone or anything ...

There's nothing left to try
There's no more places to hide
There's no greater power than the power of good-bye ...
Learn to say good-bye
I yearn to say good-bye!

-- Madonna

CONFESSIONS ON A DANCE FLOOR

One year ago on this day, Madonna released her 11th studio album, Confessions on a Dance Floor. The album saw my Queen going back to her roots in high energy dance music and modernizing disco club tunes for a new generation. I took one listen and it instantly became one of my favourite Madonna albums of all time.

Confessions spawned four number 1 studio singles including Hung Up, Sorry, Get Together and Jump; went to number 1 in 29 countries; and to-date has sold over 8 million copies world wide.

The Confessions Tour made Madonna the highest grossing female touring artist of all time. The album's singles gave her the record for the most number one dance hits on the Billboard charts and helped her beat Elvis Presley for the most top ten singles by any artist. She's received 17 nominations at various awards shows and took home 5 of those awards. She bumped Mariah Carey as the opening artist for the 2006 Grammy's, even though Confessions was not eligible to be nominated until 2007. She also beat out Mariah for the coveted year-end cover of Rolling Stone magazine despite the fact Confessions had only been out less than a month and Mariah was the biggest selling artist of 2005.

Most importantly, Confessions solidified Madonna's place as Queen of the Dance Floor! I can hardly wait to find out what she'll do next!

AM I HAPPY?

YES, I am! ABC has picked up What About Brian for a full second season! It's refreshing to see a network put faith in a show based on its quality and not just its ratings. This show has become one of my favourites.

Kylie wowed her fans this past weekend as she kicked-off her much anticipated Showgirl Homecoming tour in Australia. Even though I saw the original show in London, I would have given anything to be there for her return. There were a few new costumes and even a couple of special performances. On Sunday night, Bono appeared on stage to sing Kids, the duet Kylie originally recorded with Robbie Williams. And Kylie even paid homage to Madonna when she burst into a rendition of Vogue! Watch short clips of both performances here and here.

LOVE YOU KYLIE ... So glad you are back!

BOTH SIDES NOW

Rows and flows of angel hair
And ice cream castles in the air
And feather canyons everywhere
I've looked at clouds that way

But now they only block the sun
They rain and snow on everyone
So many things I would have done
But clouds got in my way

I've looked at clouds from both sides now
From up and down, but still somehow
It's cloud illusions I recall
I really don't know clouds at all

Moons and Junes and Ferris wheels
The dizzy dancing way you feel
As every fairytale comes real
I've looked at love that way

But now it's just another show
You leave 'em laughing when you go
And if you care, don't let them know
Don't give yourself away

I've looked at love from both sides now
From give and take, and still some how
It's love's illusions I recall
I really don't know love at all

Tears and fears and feeling proud
To say "I love you" right out loud
Dreams and schemes and circus crowds
I've looked at life that way

But now old friends are acting strange
They shake their heads, they say I've changed
Well something's lost, but something's gained
In living every day

I've looked at life from both sides now
From win and lose and still some how
It's life's illusions I recall
I really don't know life at all

-- Joni Mitchell

One of my favourite songs of all time! Have you ever heard more simple and truthful lyrics? I know I've felt this way many times in my life. We are all very fickle creatures. It goes to show that everything we experience is based on perception. Makes you wonder how much we miss out on because of a bad attitude. How many opportunities? How many relationships? How much happiness? A good attitude truly is the key to life!

WHO'S YOUR DADDY?

Turns out, I am! That's right, my new beau Milo Ventimiglia of Heroes (and formerly Gilmore Girls) fame is going to be playing MY son in an upcoming movie. Can you guess which movie that is?
